  Sayings of Shane

One Saturday Shane was playing happily, running around the house, when he stopped and looked down. "Oh No!" he cried, "where's my trousers?!" He was in nappies and t-shirt at the time.

One day Shane left his Sheep on the sofa. Returning that evening, he remarked - "Look, Sheep's watching TV." So it appeared.

It was time to go to bed. Shane was deeply involved with his toy cars.

"Are you taking teddy upstairs tonight?" I asked. "Teddy's already upstairs", Mummy reminded me. "Oh yes, I said, "I can hear him saying - 'Where's Shane?'"

"Yes, said Mummy, "He's saying, when is Shane coming to bed?"

-- "Teddy!" called Shane, casting an eye towards the stairs, "I'm playing with my cars!" And that was that.

"So worried 'o you!" says Shane, greeting me, when I return home in the dark winter evenings. Recently he said "So worried about you" correcting his own grammar.

"Why?" I asked.

"Its Dark outside Daddy. You might go to the park"

"Rabbit, eat some carrot," said Shane

"I don't want to eat carrots," said rabbit.

"Yes you do - you're a rabbit."

"No I'm not" said rabbit.

Whilst driving home from the childminders on the busy A13, Shane asked for his drink. "I can't stop now!" said Mummy.

"Mummy don't be cross." replied Shane. "Play with my cars. That be good?"

Mummy felt much better.

I gave Shane some toast, while he was playing with his cars, putting the plate down by his side, and went back to the kitchen.

He came running in. "Daddy I've lost my butter!" he said.

"How?" I said.

"I step on my plate" he said.

Fearing the worst, I looked for buttery footprints, but couldn't find any. Mummy put more butter on his toast, and gave him back the plate.

"Oh Butter!" Shane exclaimed. "So worried bout you!"
